Kendal Calling always brings together a mix of sounds, styles, and surprises—and 2024 was no different.
One band that stood out on the Roots Stage were Carlisle’s own tbk.
Originally formed as a three-piece, the name “tbk” comes from the initials of founding members Tom, Ben and Ky. In true independent spirit, they’ve also made themselves just that little bit harder to track down branding their socials as “tbk.muzak.” Some bands chase attention… others seem quite happy being a hidden gem.

Describing their sound in those exact terms, tbk bring something raw and original to the stage. This performance of “No Future, No Past” captures that perfectly—unfiltered, slightly unpredictable, and completely their own thing.

It’s always good to see bands from Cumbria stepping onto bigger stages and holding their own. tbk are another example of the kind of original talent coming out of the area right now and they’re clearly building momentum.
